The Hammers have already won at Arsenal and Liverpool and are hoping to inflict a first Premier League defeat of the season on Manuel Pellegrini's men Sergio Aguero is expected to be back fit for Manchester City's Premier League clash with West Ham, but that is not stopping Slaven Bilic from plotting a potential third shock away win of the season. Aguero was reduced to the role of an 83rd-minute substitute in City's 2-1 Champions League defeat to Juventus on Tuesday because of a knee problem. The Argentina international striker did not aggravate the injury in midweek, leaving City manager Manuel Pellegrini hopeful that Aguero - who netted 32 goals in all competitions last season - will be able to play to feature heavily in Saturday's game. 'City will pounce when Blues drop points'

Runaway leaders Chelsea are certain to drop points in their quest for the Premier League crown and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero believes his side will be ready to pounce when the Londoners falter.

Having lost to Stoke City and West Ham United already this season, Manchester City have made a sticky start to their title defence and are in third spot, six points adrift of the Stamford Bridge club after 10 matches.

But Aguero, who scored the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday that gave his team their fourth consecutive derby victory, is adamant Chelsea will not maintain their early-season form.

"Chelsea are doing very well and they keep winning but...I'm sure they will drop some points," Aguero told City TV.

"They play at Liverpool this weekend and we will see if they drop points but the important thing is that we have to win games."

The 26-year-old has scored 10 times in the league this season, one more than Chelsea hot-shot Diego Costa, and the Argentina international says his goals will be worthless if City fail to keep winning.

"There is a long way to go," said Aguero. "It is important that all the goals mean that we win games -- I always say goals are great when they mean victories."

City will meet CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday before travelling to struggling Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League on Saturday

LVG gives Rooney derby go-ahead

 Manchester - Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been passed fit for the Manchester derby on Sunday, manager Louis van Gaal has said on Friday.

However, Radamel Falcao has been ruled out of the clash with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Van Gaal dismissed reports England striker Rooney was suffering from a foot injury and said his skipper would be fit to start at Eastlands after serving a three-game suspension.

But Falcao, who missed the last two games following a kick in training, is still injured and the Colombian will miss the match at City.

Some reports suggested Rooney was doubtful after he was apparently seen hobbling at a sponsor's event at Old Trafford on Monday.

"Rooney was not injured. The media was writing that but he was never injured," Van Gaal told a news conference on Friday.

"Maybe his shoes were too tight, that is possible. But he was never injured and he shall play. He is my captain."

However, turning to Falcao, Van Gaal added: "Falcao is still injured."

But Rooney's return is a boost for the Dutch boss, especially as the forward has scored 11 goals against City, notably the dramatic overhead kick which sealed a 2-1 win at Old Trafford in February 2011.

"I have heard that also he has scored a lot of goals against Manchester City, the most of any player," said Van Gaal. "I said that to him to stimulate him but he doesn't need that.

"I am very happy that he can play again and he shall play," the Dutchman added.

City have won five of their last six league encounters against United but Wednesday's League Cup defeat by Newcastle stretched their winless run to three matches across all competitions.

"It is not the greatest moment of Manchester City," said Van Gaal ahead of his first Manchester derby.

"What we have seen of Manchester City in the last matches was not so good.

"We have a good feeling about this match."

However, Van Gaal warned his players not to get too caught up in the fervour of a derby clash and said it was important they retained their composure.

"We don't have to accelerate this feeling because it is football and you have to play the game, not only a game with emotion but also in a tactical way.

"For me, I have to analyse and prepare for the games in the same manner (as the other matches)."

United make the trip across Manchester knowing a win would close the gap between themselves and City to just a point.

KOLAROV OF MAN CITY

Cape Town -  Manchester City's Serbian defender Aleksandar Kolarov has opened the mind games ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby.

The 28-year-old defender has labelled his side "superior" to that of neighbours Manchester United according to the Daily Express.

"It is a great game to watch or play in - I think every player in the world would like to play this game." said Kolarov

"United has a great history but in the last five or six years, I think we have been superior to them.

City head into Sunday's derby on the back of a loss against West Ham United and anything but three points against their arch-rivals will be a hammer blow to their chances of retaining their English Premiership title.

The Citizens have gained the upper hand in this fixture in recent time and completed a league "double" over their neighbours last season.

QPR owner Fernandes to stand by Redknapp

London - Loyalty and football are two words that do not often go together, but after watching his side climb off the bottom of the Premier League table with victory over Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes is standing by manager Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp has come under pressure after his side won just once in their opening eight games but Charlie Austin's double against Villa on Monday helped lift the spirits at 19th-placed QPR.

Fernandes believes stability is key in QPR's battle against the drop and cited the example of West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce, who looked set to lose his job last season but has now guided a new-look team to fourth in the Premier League table.

"I believe stability is the best way," Fernandes told Sky Sports on Tuesday. "If you look at the clubs who have succeeded, they have had consistency in managers.

"This time last season, everyone wanted Sam Allardyce's head. Now, I think they will put a statue of him at the Olympic Park.

"Harry is my man. It is not in vogue to say that, but I stand by my manager."

According to media reports, talks over a new contract with Redknapp have been shelved but Fernandes hopes the 67-year-old remains at Loftus Road, after guiding them back to the Premier League last season.

"It's up to Harry whether he wants to continue as well," he said. "I hope, if he decides management is not for him next year, or the year after, or whenever, then he still has a role.

"Harry is a man who was tipped to be England manager, and he got us promoted.

"You look at how many clubs have gone down and not come (straight) back up. I think QPR are one of the few clubs to have come up."

The Red Devils recruited a number of marquee players in the summer, including Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, but the former defender believes another spending spree is needed....

the summer, acquiring the likes of Radamel
Falcao, Angel Di Maria, Daley Blind and Luke
Shaw, but have secured just five points from thei
opening five games this season.
Many have criticised United’s failure to recruit a
world-class centre-back in the summer – though
the club did spend £16m on Marcos Rojo – and
Neville believes further additions are required.
“I know United have spent £150m,' he told BBC
Radio 5 Live .
“I think there's another two transfer windows of
similar amounts of money needed - maybe
£100m - before they can even think about
winning the title.
“There are still key positions in the team that
need filling. I think the centre-back position is
obviously the key area. Holding midfield or centre
midfield needs addressing too.
“There were no world-class centre backs out
there (this summer). I think that's why in the
next two transfer windows, United might still be
looking for that world-class defender.”
Despite his criticisms, Neville believes that both
Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have bright future
at Old Trafford and insists that United must not
sell off their core group of English players.
“I am certain Chris Smalling will come good and
have full faith in Phil Jones as well,” he added.
“They've bought of a lot of foreign players, (but)
you don't get rid of your English spine.”
Neville left the club at the end of last season
along after the club finished seventh in the
Premier League.

Wenger warns Spurs to follow Arsenal formula

London - Arsene Wenger warmed up for
Saturday's explosive north London derby by
insisting Tottenham Hotspur will never become a
Premier League power unless they follow
Arsenal's blueprint for success.
After being unable to match their title rivals'
spending power for several years, Gunners boss
Wenger is finally reaping the rewards of Arsenal's
decision to leave their historic but antiquated
Highbury home and move into the 60 000-
capacity Emirates Stadium in 2006.
The £390 million cost of building their high-tech
new abode initially proved a problem for Wenger
as it diverted funds that would otherwise have
been used in the transfer market, but the
increased revenue from the Emirates is now
working in his favour.
Wenger last year signed Germany midfielder
Mesut Ozil for a club record £42 million and spent
another £30 million to land Chile winger Alexis
Sanchez before the start of the current campaign.
It is the kind of spending spree that can
transform a team from pretenders to serious
contenders, and Wenger says Tottenham -- who
haven't finished above Arsenal for 19 years --
must follow the same formula if they are to break
into the top four on a long-term basis.
Spurs are pushing ahead with proposals to
redevelop land around White Hart Lane to
accommodate a new 56 250-capacity venue, but
following legal challenges in the High Court could
be set for a season of ground-sharing rather than
being able to move for the 2017-18 campaign as
planned.
"You cannot be in a business where you turn
down 15 000 or 20 000 people every week. If your
competitors have more financial power than you,
at some stage you have to make a decision,"
Wenger said.
"It looks like everybody makes this decision now,
because when you look at Liverpool, Everton,
(they) want to increase their capacity. If you stay
in a smaller capacity, it is even more difficult."
Also on Saturday, Liverpool will look to get their
spluttering season back on track in the
Merseyside derby against Everton.
The Reds have lost three of their opening five
games and needed penalties to see off second-
tier Middlesbrough in the League Cup on Tuesday,
edging a remarkable shootout 14-13 after a 2-2
draw.
Given Liverpool's poor form, it is no surprise boss
Brendan Rodgers hopes the derby can provide the
same morale boost as last year's Anfield clash
with Everton.
The 4-0 victory over their neighbours in January
was the start of a run that brought Liverpool 37
points from a possible 39 and Rodgers said: "We
haven't made the best of starts this season but
in the like-for-like games last season, we're only
a point different.
"We go into this game with a great opportunity to
get a victory in a derby game, which we will hope
can provide a platform for us to go on
consistently, like it did last year."
Everton went down 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace
last weekend, but although they have not won at
Anfield for 15 years, manager Roberto Martinez
says they will approach the game with a positive
attitude.
"The defeat against Crystal Palace, there was
something spooky about it," he said, in reference
to the fact that Palace had also won 3-2 on their
previous visit to Goodison Park in April.
"The last time we beat Liverpool at Anfield was
September 27 (in 1999), so I hope the spookiness
carries on at the weekend."
Three points clear after a 1-1 draw at defending
champions Manchester City last weekend, leaders
Chelsea host third-place Aston Villa. Second-
place Southampton, level on points with Villa,
tackle Queens Park Rangers.
City, meanwhile, visit Hull City, having demolished
second-tier Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 in the
League Cup in mid-week.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal faces
an injury crisis in central defence ahead of his
side's home game with West Ham United.
